Tomato Firmware v1.28.7500 MIPSR2Toastman-VLAN-RT K26 USB Std on Asus RT-N16

Basically I want to allow my flatmates to view this page without logging in so that I do not have to give out the admin user name and password to the flatmates.

So I guess it involves 2 things.

    1. making another user account ie: guest/guest?

    2. setting permissions on various pages.

and maybe 3. changing the homepage to

maybe I need a different firmware?

Browsing /tmp/var/wwwext asks for the admin password on tomato ; it does not on dd-wrt.

Any reason behind it ? Or could we just have that restriction lifted in future builds ?

The webserver used in DD-WRT is completely different. The webserver in Tomato/TomatoUSB is a proprietary webserver developed by the Tomato author himself. Thus it's not as simple as "lifting the restriction" because the Tomato/TomatoUSB webserver has no such concept -- it's coded to be "all or nothing".

My advice would be, since the OP has multiple systems on a LAN, to set up one of them to periodically scp (using PuTTY's pscp, WinSCP, or something else) the /tmp/var/wwwext/tomato_rstats_xxx.gz file to their local PC into a directory. Then, using CIFS/SMB (on the PC itself), share that folder (read-only, and passwordless) -- that way that folder appears to other people on your LAN if they browse Network Neighbourhood/My Network Places and can do whatever they want with the results.
