How to config this special OpenVPN client

My friend has a router, and she wants me to login his router to config something from time to time.

Because it's difficult to apply a free domain. So it's not a good idea to config her router as a VPN server. It's feasible to config her router as a VPN client and connect my router.

The problem is: if her route is connected as a VPN client of my router's, all her network traffic will go through my network. That's too bad. I just want:
    1. I can login her router in my network. For example, when I'm at home, or I connect my router through the VPN.
    2. Her network traffic will not go through my router. Otherwise the network will become slow for both her and me.

    Any idea?

OpenVPN will not redirect traffic through the VPN tunnel UNLESS you have specified the redirect gateway.

    Code:
    redirect-gateway def1

I have two config files for my openvpn client. One with the above line included, and one without. A configuration without the above line will not redirect traffic in OpenVPN, so just don't put this line in.

If I want to put this command, shall I put this command in "Custom Configuration"? Or where?

OK. I'll NOT put this command. And w/o this command, I can still visit her router, right?

    Thanks!

In the OpenVPN client for Tomato, there a check box labeled "Redirect Internet traffic". Don't check that box, and her internet will not be redirected over the VPN. Likewise in the OpenVPN Server portion in Tomato, there is an option called "Direct clients to redirect Internet traffic". Don't check that box either. If either one of those is checked, then their internet will be redirected.
