How to download firmware from the router to the PC ?

    With WRT54G, is it possible to "download" the firmware installed in the router and save it to a file on the PC ?

    why would you want to do that

    maybe he just needs a copy of his current firmware in case he needs to go back to it.

    why not go download it again so he has a backup

    maybe he does not know were to download it from or it not avil.

    Could you not use the JTAG interface to "download" the firmware? In which case it is possible just probably not worth the time and effort.

    I want it because

    the firmware is not available for download - it's some proprietary version that support L2TP (not the official Linksys version), and I can get a router with this version installed but not the file that was used to install it....
