update: i returned the v5 to fry's and just got a v3 off of ebay and now have that running wds. now only if I could get WPA instead of WEP to work.

I have had problems connecting my wireless router about 4 rooms away ever since I got it a few years ago. I just picked up a WRT54G v5 router tonight not knowing it was a v5. So I am wondering does anyone know how to set up the 2 routers so I can extend my wireless range in the house?

I tried a tutorial on hyperwrt which I couldn't get to work. That also hooked up a router to each PC. I am looking to make one of the routers into a repeater. Is there something like this that I can do? I would prefer to use DD-WRT on my one router if possible. And hopefully I can somehow use the v5 WRT54G in this.

you can use the v5 as the standard one and then put the v2 in a repeater mode.
