Not trying to compile the firmware or anything. I'm trying to write a small app which can then be placed on CIFS and then run from the console. But I not sure what tool chain to use. Google turns up 100+1 results that each says a different thing on what to use or how to set them up so I'm very confused. I have only written small C apps to run on ubuntu as school projects so this cross-compiling thing is totally alien to me.

See here for some more info

The required toolchain for tomato is in the Linksys source, but from experience you really need to be able compile the whole firmware (even if you don't dare flash it!) and then build standalone apps from inside the same directory structure - otherwise there are loads of links that would need to be changed.

I want to make one that drops the bandwidth gui and incorporates the SD drivers. At this point Im about ready to actually pay somebody for it.
