I was issued a WCG200-CC router with my Comcast cable internet. I play Nascar 08 for PS3 and need to be able to open some ports to connect to games. I cant figure out how to open the ports, can anyone help me? Also, if anyone wants to give me a call if its easier let me know and ill get my ## to you.

Ive played quite alot of games including the ps3 online, never has this been an issue unless i was trying to host a server. Your router should dynamically open the ports when the requests are sent out, the only other place that this might be an issue is if the game makes a request on one port and the request is sent to a different port. If so you can use port triggering on the router (but you will need to know what port it uses going out so you can have it trigger the incomming ports necessary).

the problem im having is that when I try to connect to the game it gets stuck on "connecting to host" on about 80% of games I try to join. Someone else who plays said he opened a few ports and everything was fine from then forward, but he couldnt seem to be able to walk me through how to open the ports up. IM SO CONFUSED!!

Ok i did a quick search and everyone seems to have an opinion on what ports needs to be opened. Trying looking at your game documentation and see what it says, once the correct ports are identified opening them is easy enough.

the ports that need to be opened are:

    UDP: 3658 6000 9555

    TCP 31400-31499 13505 443

also, I think it should be know that I tried to put my IP address into the browser bar, but it just goes to the "offline page". Not really sure why it does that.....

what IP address did you put in the address bar? The one of the computer or the one of the PS3?

To setup port forwarding, follow this guide:

I did a google search of "what is my ip address" and then clicked on one of the links and it told me my ip address. That number when I put it into the browser bar goes to the offline page. this is getting frustrating

FYI, if you are going to open (port forward) any ports to a device, that device should have a Static IP address.
