    My Router - BEFW11S4
I am using a BT software which I need to forward the correct port to my computer. But with the automatically-assigned IP, I have to change the IP address for the port forwarding, everytime my IP address is renewed.

I tried changing some of the setting under windows but they don't work.
Under Local Area Connection>Properties>Gerenal>Internet Protocol(TCP/IP)>Properties, I selected "Use the following IP address", and filled in the in IP address as 192.168.1.2 and copy the rest of the fields from the Status page(http://192.168.1.1/RouterStatus.htm). After the setting is done, it still doesn't work, no connectivity to the internet.

    Am I doing something wrong?

    Did you set the gateway?

Yes, I set the subnet mask, the default gateway, the preferred DNS server and the alternate DNS server. I copied all the data from the status page.

What are the actual settings you put on the client? And what is your router's IP?

Yup - gateway's wrong. You should be able to use the router for DNS as well. Just out of curiosity, can you not reserve an IP on the router?
