Someone can correct me if I'm wrong but I really think the problem is with your LAN IP. I would change it to be in the same range as the rest of your IPs. i.e. 192.168.2.xxx

I have been trying to setup Hyperwrt in client mode with the help of instructions posted above, however, there are a few things that I coun't understand.

    1. Is this a bridged client mode and not routed client mdoe?

    2. I have a WRT54GS VER 1.0. Are the iface names same as WRT54G VER 2.2?

    3. What is the exact verbiage of commands to accomplish this?

brctl delif br0 eth1 <- What does this do?
    wl ap 0
wl join SSID key WEPKEY <- Is SSID and WEPKEY entered without quotes?
    ifconfig eth1 192.168.2.13 netmask 255.255.255.0
ifconfig br0 192.168.3.13 netmask 255.255.255.0 <- This ip should be in 192.168.2.x range?
    route add default gw 192.168.2.1

Thanks for taking the time to explain this.

This command deletes the WAN interface (interface Ethernet 1) from the Bridge.

What about the rest of the questions?

    firmware

I suggest downloading sveasofts new alchemy 6rc5 and selecting 'client mode' in the little drop down box.

Believe me, I have already tried that. While I agree that it is easier with Alchemy, I have also found that to be given to random disconnects/slow speeds. While I do not use this client connection for gaming, I do use it to stream audio/video for my media player. With the random slowdown, it introduces glitches while playing my media files.

My goal is to try it with a different firmware than the alchemy series for now to find out once and for all, if client mode will work in my situation.

I'd like to see a true client mode too. Alchemy is poo and slow. HyperWRT is awesome because it deviates little from the official firmware

In the mean time, how do I set no key. Do i just remove the "key" bit?

If someone could give me a good st5artup script for the following setup, I'd be more than grateful

    Router/internet (192.168.1.1) -> [wireless] -> WRT54G -> LAN direct connection to PC

    EDIT - NOW WORKING

Sooo much faster than Alchemy. You just click a website and it almost instantly loads. Alchemy sucks. Spread the word

    Thanks
    Matt

Unfortunately I don't have the answers to those as I have not "investigated" them.

Does the HyperWRT client mode supports multiple PCs behind the Client?

Also, can you please post the commands you use in your setup?

    Thanks.

Doesn't this delete the wireless interface from the bridge (not the WAN interface)?

I am close to having this working. The wireless side of the WRT is working great. My problem is I can't see the PC hooked up to the LAN port of the WRT (and the PC can't see the WRT). Here is my startup script. What am I missing?

    wl ap 0
    brctl delif br0 eth1
wl join SSID key KEY amode shared
    ifconfig eth1 192.168.5.128 netmask 255.255.255.0
    ifconfig br0 192.168.5.127 netmask 255.255.255.0
    route add default gw 192.168.5.254
    echo "nameserver 192.168.6.252" > /etc/resolv.conf
    echo "search riley.home" >> /etc/resolv.conf

The configuration of the PC is as follows:

    IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.5.10
    Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
    Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.5.254
    DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.6.252
