HyperWRT Thibor 15c (WRT54G v3.1) - PPTP Connect on Demand Problem...

I tried using HyperWRT Thibor 15c with a WRT54G - I believe the model is v3.1; I just configure it for a friend - and wanted to use it with the Connect on Demand option with a PPTP internet connection.
However, in this case I can't get it to work - the router always says that it can't connect to PPTP-Server if I press connect or whatsoever.
If I instead use Keep Connection alive, connecting works without any problems (however it will not quit automatically).
I now have it temporarily set to keep connection alive, however...

Is there a way to fix this problem (maybe changing a certain setting over telnet) or..?

Or do I need to use a different firmware? If so, is there one which has the same stability and where connect on demand with PPTP works? I don't need more features than the router has with the default firmware - except maybe the possibilty to turn of SecureEasySetup; don't know if this is possible in normal firmware now too - but WPA2 (normal HyperWRT doesn't support WPA2 from what I remember) and working PPTP Internet connection with connect on demand (and Static DHCP would be nice too but not needed).
