but I am trying. Here is my problem. Several years ago DH bought me a new desktop as a "getting out of the hospital" gift, but it was the cheapest thing on the back of Parade magazine, i.e. a dog. Then we had to evacutate to a public-computerless small town. Ordered a lap top that runs rings around desk top. Trying to go totally wireless and stop leaching off of neighbors. Bought a Wireless-G Router but is says hook up to desk top! Not what I want to do and there is no one here to help me. HELP!!!

Best to configure the router using a LAN connection to a computer before switching to wireless completely: setup example

The router is capable of connecting to both wireless and wired computers, even from a desktop, perhaps this illustration may help (image courtesy of Linksys - before it becomes a Cisco subsidiary)

If the image is a little confusing, simply substitue your laptop wired connection anytime it says "Desktop" and you should be fine. Ask away any further questions you have.
