    Hi everyone,

Im using DD-WRT v23 SP1 Final (05/16/06) std and have one wireless client. The better i can have is -84 for the RSSI.

Just for fun, i have tried HyperWRT Thibor 15c and i can get -73.

Is it normal that the signal quality is different?

That's a very small difference. There are many factors which can account for that. For starters, those numbers are somewhat ambiguous. They represent a relative signal strength rather than an absolute value. Additionally, position of the router, ambient radiation, etc. can effect a reading from one moment to the next. I'd not put much stock in what you're seeing. Go with what you like best.

Also by default HyperWRT increases your transmit power to 50mW whereas DD-WRT keeps it at 28mW.

The router is always at the same place and with DD-WRT, i have played with the transmit power and theres no difference at all. So i dont think its a question of power.

Anyway.. i was just curious about how it can be different... the calcul for the signal quality should be the same??
