I need direction in setting up virtual wireless on an access point

Here is my setup. I am running Shibby 121 on two Asus AC68U's. AC68U #1 is set up as a main router running DHCP. AC68U #2 is wired into AC68U via ethernet and serves as an access point only. I would like to set up a virtual wireless ssid on the access point (AC68U #2) only. I was able to successfully do this however I was not able to access the internet while connecting to the new virtual wireless ssid.

Should I set the vlan up on the main router (AC68U #1) and the wireless ssid on the access point (AC68U #2)? If not, what is the procedure for setting up a virtual wireless ssid on an access point that is wired into the main router?

Is what I am trying to do possible? I can get the virtual wireless ssid set up on the access point, I just can't obtain internet access.

@LanceMoreland: Have you set the gateway on AP#2 to the IP of AP#1? Also, have you set AP#2 in "Router" mode?

Yes to all of the above except on AP#2 the Router mode or DHCP is disabled on because DHCP is enabled on the main router. I have had this setup working for years except for the guest ssid. When I setup the virtual wireless on AP#2 I had DHCP enabled for the Guest ssid on AP#2 and it all worked except I could not access the internet from the guest ssid. I think the answer is in the above post.
