I'm tried send by tftp original firmware too...

erase wholefhas (all flash...:frown: ), flash CFE.BIN ... and later prove to up the firmware and i don't stand why don't run... so I want to try to up all flash in one step ... no it's a good idea?

if I mount a serial port what I can do ?? I will have a operative shell?

some time back i build a serial port for 'la fonera' but it run ok an linksys don't turn on...:wall:

I think when he says serial port mod he means JTAG to the parallel port, not the serial port mod (thinknig you're trying to use TFTP over a JTAG cable or something?); although its a bit odd seeing an admin make a mistake like that; i assume he's been doing this a lot longer than me.

Adding 2 serial ports (AFAIK; i haven't done it) lets you have a normal serial socket for serial devices in 1 port and a "control port" with which you can get propper access to the firmware as if it was running on your computer.

In the old days, you'd do that with a serial link to a dumb terminal, or a null modem cable and some software on your PC. I don't know if you can get this working without the router already being operational for it to be set up.. apparently you can get detailed boot error messages through a serial terminal interface.
