If I have a old router that doesn't work well...

I have a older router that we replaced a couple years ago. The router itself is like 5-6 years old at least (still a G router). We replaced it because 4-5 times a day I would have to take the power off and let it cycle back on...the internet would stop working, and this was the only fix.

I was going to sell it on ebay for a few bucks (very few ) but then I found out about 3rd party firmwares.

Could this fix the problem? Or does the random cutting off of the router just mean the router is dying/dead?

(also, with WWDRT can I turn a old router into a extender...I know you can easily with tomato, just wondering if you can here also)

    Thanks.

    Hi,
What is the router model and version?
I found 3rd party firmware stopped a lot of my problems.
