i have the latest tomato 1.04.

i've been experiencing problems controlling bandwidth. i have the QoS settings setup correctly but no matter what my LOWEST always takes 200k+ even though i have it have it set to 10% in/out AND set to the bottom of the list.

i would like my xboxlive to always take atleast 500k,

here's a screen incase someone asks.

i'd really appreciate the help. thank you.

I don't know much about QoS, but your settings look totaly messed up.
I would say, set everything back to their standard settings(limits and rules), take about 90% of your theoretical upload-bandwith in the Max Bandwith and leave the limits and rules(made standard) as they are. Just make a rule for your xbox as that one you made.

    Maybe someone agrees with me.

edit: yeah, 90% of the theoretical Upload-speed should be enough

Your total outbound bandwidth is set for 10 Megabits ( fiber ? ), and your "lowest" category outbound has a range of 2 meg down to 1 meg. I've never seen anybody set the left side column with a higher value than the right side column. Either way, "lowest" is programmed to limit to either 2 or 1 megabit, which would go a long way in explaining why you have no problem exceeding 200+ K. For testing, make both columns the same value like you have "low" set, but with the correct amount. Also, QOS works best when you enter 95% of your actual measured bandwidth values, not the 100% ISP package advertized speed.

Edit - Hi tOm80. We were typing at the same time there. I think your 80% - 90% on the bandwidth values is a better suggestion than my 95%.

    Hi jbypuentes,

i think the settings for the lowest class are wrong !

The left value (guaranteed speed) should be lower or equal to the right value (maximum speed) Try to swap the values.

    i just noticed that.

btw: i have no trouble downloading at 800K/sec. almost a full meg. so i changed the max setting to 1000.

hope fully that helps and i set HIGHEST to 95-95%
    and lowest to 10-10%.

thanks for the help, i'll post with the results.

this isn't the way QoS works, maybe someone else can explain it to you, or just read the wiki.

Reset the router to defaults and add a rule for your xbox as highest and leave the rest. alone... are you sure about that max up??? 10mbit???
