    i have a WRT54GL s/n CL7B
which i bought a few hours ago
i have read that this router makes problems with P2P
and the solution (by wikipedia(azuras FAQ)) is to Flash it to Thibor or DD-wrt
and then add some start up script

    first question
i have configured my network alreardy
so should i return to factory defults?
and whats about erasing that NVRAM?
    second question
is there is really a problem with P2P?
and is the Azuras solution is the only way???

It is recommended to reset to factory defaults before the upgrade.

IMHO, the P2P problem stems mostly from users not configuring their application's connection parameters correctly - I never have to run any startup script with any router that I'm currently running (most don't support this) and download using BitTorrent works just fine as is.

reset the settings, worry about the startup script if you actually need to. cross that bridge when you get there

ok i see a significant drop in drop in p2p performance
i understand that i must use port forwarding as a first step
which requires to disable DHCP all-together which i wanna keep
so is there any other way to forward ports?

use DHCP but use Static DHCP.

    i "found" static DHCP
will it assign a permanent ip adress by my MAC to allow port forwarding? (its half rhetorical question cuase im not sure :))

which ports i should forward anyway
im using bitcomet and the only port im seeing is the listen port
is that the only one i should forward?
