Info about wireless signal strength

Hello, I've got 2 PC's connected to the WRT54GL - one hard wired, and the
other through the wireless - running Tomato 1.19.

I'm looking at the stats in the wireless client software (ralink/SMC) and it tells
me I have about 1 1/2 % retires in "transmit". I can see a slight variance
if I change the channel, or depending on the time of day.

Something that seems odd to me, within the client software - if I reduce the
transmit strength to only 10% or leave it on "auto", it doesn't affect
the retry % at all. Shouldn't a higher signal have produced less errors?

How can I see from with Tomato's config/info pages the signal strength that my
own PC is connecting at? Anything else I can look at?

Any other info related to this appreciated.
    Dave
PS Not sure if this should have gone into one of the other forums -
    Please move it if so.
