Internet Connection with two WAN's with IPSec VPN on one of them.

Well, I'm working on a project. The idea is to connect LAN to the Internet using two independant ethernet WAN's. The main reason to do so is a high reliability of Internet access. Load balance management is not necesary, but it would be an interesting addition.

One of the WAN connections will be used to establish IPSec tunnels with Linksys WRV200 devices.

So, I'm trying to find out what device (or devices) is able to provide such services.

I think that would have more to do with what's on the outside of your LAN as far as internet stability goes, which is your internet provider. Are you saying you have 2 ethernet WAN's (2 internet providers)?

depending on how many devices at the dual wan I would go for a RV042 or RV082. Both these suppose Dual WAN connections with many features, and are by far more stable than any WRV200 would be. only downside is there is no Wireless support with these devices but add a WRT54GL, with 3rd party firmware and you will be pretty much complete.

Will you help me understand his setup?

Indeed. There are two independant Internet providers available.

Wireless is not needed and will not be used.

RV042 does have all the options necesary, it is available to buy, and is in the price range of the project. So, it is a proper solution.

Do I have other options, as the RV082 is a bit too expensive?

I'm assuming the IPSec tunnel should work fine with two Linksys devices. And a device not made by Linksys can cause some problems.

Well, I bought the RV042 device. It appears to be working, for now. I had some problems caused by old firmware and VPN tunnel settings, probably. In a few days I will be able to tell if I solved all the issues.

    I have another question.
Is it possible to use RV042 as a backup internet connection source to the remote IPSec VPN connected networks?
