Ok, So I had a problem with my computer so I had to reinstall windows. I couldnt find my pro cd so I used my Home cd. Well, I cant find the cd key for it so I wasnt able to update to service pack 2. Now I got a linksys wireless G adapter that has always worked good. I am using it right now to post this. But the problem is, while downloading files or checking myspace, etc, it just stops out of the blue. I have to unplug it and plug it back in again for it to work. Is there any fix for this other then service pack 2? I have the latest drivers for my modem and my other computer works fine. My other computer doesent have service pack 2 and it has the same adapter. It seems like it just stops downloading but not uploading. If theres anything else I can post let me know. My modem sends a signal wirelessly to both of my computers. thanks for the help!!
Doubtful SP2 will fix the problem. There is no pre-requisit for SP2 unless you are adding WPA2 support.
yea I called linksys and they went through some stuff with me and eventually found out I didnt have sp2 so there like, that contains some content that will fix the problem blah blah so go install it and im like ****.
There is freeware called SW, which will give you the Windows Product Key if it has been entered. It is avaialbe from PCWorld. You did not enter the product key and I do not know if the utility will work.. You only have a limited number of days to activiate windows. Again as Esquire stated I do not know if anything in SP2 that fixes your problem. You and go to the Microsoft website, which lists the fixes in SP2 in the knowledgebase.
hey well thanks but I get the same key no matter what computer im on. And when I try to type in the key it says it has already been used the maximum amount of times and it says I need to enter a new key. :/
haha so I called microsoft and after a few minutes they told me to read everything on the "cover" of the cd so I did and they gave me a new cd key haha. ill tell u if im still having problems just as soon as service pack 2 is finished downloading.
hey well maby it has something to do with linksys or something idk but the problem is fixed now that i have sp2. Weird huh??
I believe the tool you are referring is called SIW, System Information for Windows: http://www.gtopala.com/ correct?
