I'm new to the forum & I love online debates so I thought I would kick off my first post with this, I only just downloaded firefox and i love it, my vote goes to firefox and i will never go back! I mainly like it because it has tabbed browsing, its fast, includes spell checking, you can add extra plugins & extensions! if you use firefox already, upgrade to firefox 2 now, if you don't have it yet, download it FREE from: Firefox

Which do you prefer? please cast your vote & give your views...

This isn't a debate, its purely common sense. If you don't use firefox your going to have problems. Plus wouldn't you rather not crash your entire pc when your browser has a problem?

This is going to be a slam microsoft post. I am neutral as far as that goes, its taken MS far to long to get to where they are but now they are here IE7 (mind you taking tabbed browsing from opera and firefox) works well. I have used all and use firefox with Ubuntu and IE with Vista and the only thing i like better about firefox is crash recovery. Granted there are 10 bazillion add ons and plugins but i found i was going far to crazy with them and spending way to much time testing and playing. Overall they are great browsers, but i have found that IE just works better with windows. That is a discussion all in itself, so my vote is platform dependent, love firefox with Ubuntu and love IE7 with xp or vista.

I guess I am coming from the "Hell hath no fury..." I bought a new laptop loaded with Vista, and decided I would be open minded, lets just say I got burned.

The laptop now runs XP after 2 weeks scrounging for XP drivers (Not MS's fault).

I just like how Firefox complies with open standards while IE tries to roll their own standard. I am even less happy that when I look at a site with IE7 that It complains that I don't have the latest flash, or this activex control is trying to load... I don't really care. Firefox (for me) seems to give me a more complete browsing experience without the threat of random crashes(if it does i lose nothing), and angry activex viruses.

I would like to admit that I am a developer at a fully Microsoft shop. So I know how certain things work, and don't like it.

    P.S 500th post, YAY...

No i hear yah, pre IE7 I favored firefox. But like your MS experience, firefox gave me grief. I purely hated the fact the scroll bar on my mousepad would not work. Since IE7 came out i find myself using firefox less and less, I am totally on board the the rest of your comments though with IE7 its not longer an issue if you have it configured to not do anything without your permission. Vista was a major pain at first but most vendors have finally gotten around to getting everything working and my overall experience with it has been good.
