Internet Quits on me

    Hello,
I installed DD-WRT a few weeks ago, and I have internet access since sunday :).
There is just a small problem:
DD-WRT works pretty well, but.. when i reconnect in the morning (after a night of no activity) it does connect, but not to the internet!
So i can access the router, but i wont get internet. No clue why.. I do know a simple reboot solves the problem.

How can i solve this prob without having to reboot every day? is this a bug, or did i mess up settings somewhere? btw, we are using notebooks with WIFI, happens to every single one of them (vista and XP and Ubuntu).
    Thanks :).

What kind of internet are you using? Cable or DSL, etc?

Some ISP might require that be active to get Internet. So your fix is to send a keep alive packet once and a while to keep your connection live or you can have the router automatically reboot just before you wake up.

Ive got DSL, from Tiscali (a dutch provider) but i dont think thats the cause.
Router is directly connected to the modem (hardwired).

DHCP is set to renew every 8 hours, and i think something is being messed up here, when no clients are connected. Numbers seem to be perfect though. (maybe new DHCP info isnt sent to the client-notebooks?) Like told before, i can access the router, but i cant access the internet.

Btw, Id rather try to solve the prob than enabling auto-reset. :).

Sorry, what do you mean in this phrase?

What numbers are you referring to?

    DSL means what? PPPoE?

The DHCP numbers in the DHCP list.
I can access the router if the internet does not work, and when I check the DHCP table there are numbers listed. (everything is filled as usual).

I have no idea if its a PPPoE line, Its just a dedicated ADSL line, 5Mbit, I do not have a phone here. (no splitters etc.) Modem is their free ZYXeL P-2602H-D VOIP one.

    Btw, it happened today again..

EDIT: Does DD-WRT store logs somewhere?
I might be able to trace back the problem then..

Make sure you have the log enabled. Log into your router --> Administration --> Log --> Enable.

I had a similar problem, i traced the cause to torrenting.

i removed all udp announce urls from the torrent i was downloading and the inet stopped dropping out. the router was seeing these connections as attempted DoS attacks and rebooting.

    hope it help
