    I have a Linksys WRT54G v3 running the Firmware Version: v4.71.1, Hyperwrt 2.1b1 + Thibor15c

I cannot get my IP address to change! If I take the router out of the system and reboot the cable model connected directly to the computer I get a different IP and DNS servers than I do with the router installed.

Any idea on what I can do to refresh this (yes I have tried release/renew as well)

    Thanks in advance!

    Why is this a problem?

If you really do want the same results from the router as you would get directly connected, release the router's DHCP allocation, clone the MAC address of your PC to the router, then re-allocate your DHCP.

The fact that the IP address doesn't change is a feature! It means that if ever the DHCP server dies, when clients renew, they will tend to retain their original IP allocation and not conflict with other clients that have not yet renewed (not realizing that, as far as the DHCP server is concerned, they do not have an address allocated).

I think that beacuse I am using this other IP and DNS server that I am getting some packet loss as opposed to the one my PC picked up earlier. I will try the mac addy clone and see how that goes.

    Thanks for the tip!
