This seems to be a really cool feature. I have never set a QoS limit on any thing before and finally interested in it since dl this firmware. We have cable internet and on a 20mb/2mb plan. We get consistent speeds on that plan. I would like to set a limit for a wireless laptop we have. I would like to set it to 10mb/1mb. How would I go about doing that? Am I understanding it right that is how it works? Or do I need to go in the other QoS menu first to set things up?

    Seems not. Oh well...

Assuming you want to limit a client for some reason, there are several ways to do it.

    1) Using normal QOS, arrange it so that the client can use full speed when nothing else is using the web which has a higher priority.

    2) Use normal QOS to always limit his speed regardless by putting him into his own class rule.

    3) Use IP/MAC limiter to do the same thing, can be easier, doesn't affect the normal QOS rules.

    My preference is the first.

Because IP/MAC limiter works independently of the normal QOS - while using normal QOS to assign priorities and overall limits, if it turns out that one person is still taking more than his fair share of the bandwidth, you can also use IP/MAC limiter to restrict his speed.

This thread shows how to use it: http://www.linksysinfo.org/forums/showthread.php?t=58571&highlight=ip/mac+limiter
