Is it possible in any way that one can implement a bandwith limiter? It could be that I would like the range to only have 1Mbit available to them on the internet, so that another group fx. 151-255 has all available bandwith, and a guarantied minimum of say 1Mbit on a 2Mbit line.

if you really need it THAT badly i'd suggest getting a PC and putting freebsd or linux on it and doing that, you can get a old PC cheap (less than $20) and put it between your internet and your WRT and setup any limits you want.

can't you ask your roommate to set a limit on his P2P software or not use it while your doing your schoolwork?
I don't know any specific ways to do it with existing WRT firmware, i'm sure you could compile your own with bandwidth limiting s/w in it, sveasot may hae something simiarl but i'm not sure if it does limiting based on ip or protocol or what...

if you want a computer to use as a router check out http://www.vfxweb.com they have decent systems for like $100 and you can get a p200 or something for like $10-15 + shipping

http://vfxweb.com/index.php?maincateg=1&subcateg=23&productid=7465 <- PII 233 with 2 gig drive, and 64 ram (would make a decent internet gateway may want ot add ram or a biiger hd though can get those on that site for a couple bucks too)
