    Hey!

Iam running a IP-SEC Tunnel between two RVL200 routers, one on a 100 duplex Mbit Internet and one on a 13/1,6 Mbit Internet. Everyting is working as expected except the tunneling speed.

I tried to check the transfering speed between a windows server on one site with a client on the other, maxed at about 220 kbit both ways, wich is really slow.

Havent done much of configuration more than setting the tunnel up and on one of the sites, no QOS what so ever.

Have tried changing the MTU after some googleing but not sure if the value is related to this, and however the value resets to 1500 after I try changing it.

One are running firm 1.1.7, and the other is running firm 1.1.10.1.
The one running 1.1.7 are 150 km from my office so dont whant to upgrade it if i don't have to.

You can try reducing the MTU size.

first of all it does not matter how fast your internet connection speed is, as once it enters the domain of the "net" it will slow down. some ISP may even filter IPSec as low priority. Hhave you run any diagnostics/speeds tests between the two routers without the IPSec Tunnel.

what speed did you get there?

are you using NetBios in IPSec. this will slow down your tunnel also.

I will try running som speed tests this afternoon, I have just taken for granted that it should be good, but that have too be sorted out ofcourse before proceeding. Anyone hwo can recommend a good software for that?
I guess the easiest thing is to just run a software on two machines, seated on the different sites, from one to the others internet IP-adress?

Edit: i cant lower the MTU, the values does not get saved, i put in for example 1300 manual and saves, but after a few sec and a refresh it resets to 1500 manual, do i do something wrong?
