Hi. I'm new to the world of Linksys products and have recently bought a WPC54GS wireless pcmcia card for use in my G4 Powerbook following an airport card failure. The card works fine but the noise it makes suprised me - I thought they would be silent. Mine sounds like a spinning hard drive from time to time. Just wondering if this is normal? Thanks for any advice.

i have a signal booster that makes a high pitched whining noise whenever it is on. you can only hear it when close to it. tech support says its normal.

so maybe your pcmcia card is doing the same thing

Thank for the fast replies! Yes it does make a click-click noise, sometimes fast, sometimes slow. It doesn't really bother me, but I didn't think there would be many moving parts in the card, or if it should be making any noise at all. Oh well, happy to live with it.
