Is it caused by cfe.bin?

Suddenly, my router(WRT54GS V3) couldn't work. After reboot, it still couldn't work. TTL=100, not 64. I tried restoring configuration to router. But it still couldn't work. I felt very strange.

Then I have no choice but to reset it to factory settings and config all the settings manually. One by one. Then router can work. But it seems that performance decreased. Because if web monitoring is enabled, no python application can be started at router startup. This performance is much worse than previous. I don't know why. I just guess is it because cfe.bin changed? But actually I never changed any file. Never flashed any file.

Anyone who can tell me why? Why the backup configuration restored to router still couldn't work? Why there's conflict between web mornitoring and python application? Thanks!

Firstly, when issue happened, it is "tomato-WRT54GSUSB-1.28.7633.3-Toastman-VLAN-IPT-ND-VPNNOCAT.bin"
    Then update to "tomato-WRT54GSUSB-1.28.7634Toastman-IPT-ND-VLAN-VPNNOCAT.bin"

Why are you using a USB firmware on a router without USB ports?

I need to install mini goagent in jffs. In order to pass through the Great Fire Wall in China.

I'm still confused. USB isn't JFFS. USB is USB, as in a USB port.

Have you modified your WRT54GS to add a USB port? Solder resistors across points and wire up a breadboard, that kind of thing? There's a description of what's involved in the process here: http://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/linksys/wrt54g Unless you've done that, or have a WRTSL54GS (which is a very different looking WRT54GS, but it included a USB port), the build of Tomato you're using isn't intended for your router and is likely the reason you're having trouble.

I'm pretty sure stock WRT54GS routers just use normal builds, they don't need a special GS build. Find the features you want and so long as it fits in your flash, you're golden...

My router doesn't have USB port and no USB port added on it.

Actually I have two separate requirements:
    1. JFFS to store goagent & some python applications
    2. USB mode is enabled just to allow ftp server. I need to download some application to RAM by ftp server.

You don't have to enable your nonexistent USB port to get an FTP server. I can FTP to /tmp/ all day long w/o USB enabled.

When you enable USB it probes the router for the USB port. If you don't have one connected then all sorts of weird things can happen. Actually, since this is a hardware mod, all sorts of weird things can happen anyway, but it's getting into far more weird territory if the necessary hardware isn't present and you enable support for it.

I don't enable the USB. I just enable the ftp server in the USB menu.

Would you please tell me how to create a ftp server in the FW which does NOT support USB? Thanks a lot.
