Is this the infamous 2.2 Wireless droput issue?

I just bought a WRT54G and am having some issues streaming tv (DVB streams) to an iBook G4 which I'm using as a MythTV frontend. I am currently using the HyperWRT 2.1b firmware, no encryption on the wifi; just hidden ssid and mac filtering.

I have had it happen when attempting to play back recorded shows through the wifi-- I get times when the video freezes, and myth, in the end, just quits the stream.

It doesn't seem to lock the router up or rebooot it, within seconds (how long does a boot cycle take?), I can be back in the stream to the position where I left off. I don't know for sure yet as the router is in another room when I stream the video- must check this.

It won't freeze in exact same positions, so I'm assuming it's not bad errors in the transmitted stream that trigger the freezes. Wifi strength is not great, it has to get through a couple of walls, and ends up being around 50% strength on the iBook, that's with boosting to 67mW. I can boost more but only get around an extra 5%.

My previous router/modem combo was an 3com OfficeConnect- I occasionally got freezes on this too, but it would recover a lot more often without quitting the stream (did happen on occasion though).

Hope someone can give me some pointers,

    Try this...

It sounds like it. I put my WRT54G v2.2 router into B-Mode only and it hasn't frozen or dropped a connection since. The downside is I am only getting 11Mbps instead of 54Mbps.
