Is WDS the right application?

    Folks,

I have a cable modem and WRT54G (running DD-WRT) on one side of my house. The other side of my house is not getting very good coverage.

Can I put a 2nd WRT54G in a middle location, where it has line-of-site to both the 1st router and the target location? I'd like to hang a wired computer off of it at the same location.

Will WDS on the 2nd give me this, or is there a better configuration?

    Thanks!

it should give better coverage however., adding WDS will hlf the wireless bandwidth. at 54g mode you get approx 22-24Mbps max throughput. adding WDS will half that.

Ick :-( Will all nodes get half, or only the ones connected to the 2nd router?

    Thx

as i said Wireless bandwidth it halved. you could possible use another WRT54G setup as a client. perhaps.

or try boosting the signal and adding better antennas to both WRT54G and the Wireless Client with possibly using reflectors on the antennas.

    also check: Poor signal strengths
