Hello! (I'm new here so bear with me:)
Well heres my problem, well, when i used to have an old d-link:mad: pci card and router all was ok but not fine. but now whenever i start up windows with the new linksys one (WMP54GS) it takes ages to load up. Now its nothing to do with programs on windows because it was a fresh install. so what to do

    Thanks
    Tom

Installed any s/w for the WMP54GS? XP? Uninstall s/w and use the built-in XP service. Try with different slot of the same PC. Try the adapter in a different PC. Ensure motherboard has latest BIOS updates.

no, i didn't install their programs or anything, i just installed the necessary files for it to work through the "new found hardware" bit in windows to install it. plus different slots dont work and the bios is upto date. Also windows cant find a suitable driver to use for this card without having the actual linksys one.

just an observation. since it was a fresh install have you ainstalled the correct Chipset drivers that come with the motherboard? if you goto device manager are there any yellow warning triangles on the list of hardware?
