    Hey...

I have a WRT54G router which i am using as a Wireless access point. It provides 2 other Pcs with Internet. and is connected to my Pc which has the internet connection.

Just a few days ago i couldnt access the site "http://192.168.1.1" to the control panel. But i heard of something called FirmWare.
What is Firmware and can it be used as a Control panel?

And also, When i transfer files (wirelessly) between my pc and the other Pcs, there seems to be a transfer limit. (Of about 12kb/s) How can i disable this.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thx for reading.

So do you know anything about the Transfer limit? The linksys Support department said something about MTU, but it had no effect.

Is there any other way to access the control panel than using the "192.168.1.1" address?

    thx again.

you could telnet into the rotuer but u would need 3rd party firmware. did u change the ip address of the router. about the transfer limit did u try a hard reset.

frimware = the software for the router. this how the router runs on. Much like Window$ , Linux and MacOS. FYI , your router runs on Linux (yep , it uses Kernel 2.4.20..if you don't know whats that , just ignore)

You can of course telnet to the router , this requires you to flash in a 3rd party frimware. Telnet uses UNIX Style commands (Web control panel makes it easier). So if you don't know how to use UNIX. Thats it , your dead (well not really , you could call for help). I would not suggest you to do telnet and configure the router

I heard some of the 3rd party frimware has a fix for this. BTW , you could do a hard reset and see (hold the reset button > 5 seconds) and see if you can acesss back or not

Well if i do a proper Reset of the Router then i am able to access the control panel again. But then all my configurations and settings are lost. Which firmware has a fix for this?
