i'm assuming i will get a v1.1. i first discovered the 3rd party firmware such as alchemy and hyperWRT from the VoIP guys on BBR forums.. it seemed like a very safe flash for added features. after browsing around here i'm kinda nervous about the flash (looking at doing hyperWRT). i realize users who post are usually those having problems.. but what seems to be the success rate for the hardware i have on the way? i realize there probably isn't a definite number for this... but im just trying to get a better feeling about doing this. thanks.

You shouldn't have any problem flashing to HyperWRT. It is closer to the actual Linksys firmware than the others. Its a good idea to flash it from a wired connection rather than wireless (even though I've done that before heh). After you flash it, it is probably not necessary but a good idea to restore the factory defaults or do a reset to clear out the memory.

also.. the firmware does work with both hardware revisions of the WRT54GS right?

but the hyperWRT firmware is compatible with both revisions of the WRT54GS correct?

The latest HyperWRT WRT54GS software is based on Linksys 3.37.2 firmware -- should be fine in either version. Check the version in your router -- Linksys has a habit of using the same version for different WRT versions.
