I'm not extremely technically savvy, please bear with me.

I've always had frequent signal drops that require me to restart (cycle?) my router. Yesterday, my computer was not able to pick up any signal. The cable modem is functioning, I've unplugged the modem/router, and restarted my computer a zillion times hoping it would just fix itself. All the lights are on/blinking on the router- nothing indicates a malfuntion.

I am connecting wireless and my laptop runs on Windows 2000. There have not been any events such as storms or moves, infact, I was connected last evening, and the signal just stopped. Generally when this happens I unplug the wireless router from the wall, wait a bit, plug back in, and it reconnects.

I'm just not sure what to do, or who to call. Can anyone please help me, or offer possible solutions?

Please be a little more specific so someone can help you figure it out. Were you connecting wirelessly or by a cable? What operating system are you using? And has anything changed, moved computer, router, big storm etc? There will be more questions and possbile solutions as answers come in.
