Anyone flash this router yet with Toastman builds. There are several e900 builds and I am trying to figure out which one to use. I am thinking about using standard as I do not need VPN. Further, I am not sure why there is a USB build for this router as it has no USB port so any advice on which build to choose would be appreciated. I have the router running dd-wrt now but I prefer tomato. I would rather get some input from someone who has done this as I would prefer not to brick my router. Thanks for any input / help.

You can use the standard veresion if you don't need any of the extra features. Just a note of caution: BEFORE you flash your router, make sure you set a STATIC IP address to the PC where you will flash your router. Toastman's Tomato builds have the DHCP disabled by default.

    Good luck!

I'm using the standard build on a E900 with no issues.

Thanks for the replies. I will give it a try this weekend. The problem I have with the DD-WRT flash is that I am not getting n wireless speeds but g speeds on my n card. I have always had better throughput and stability in general with tomato.

As far a flashing goes, I have dd-wrt on there now, so don't I need to just do a firmware upgrade through dd-wrt to this version and tick the clear the nvram option. I presume then that after the upgrade, I can log in to the router by finding it and connecting to it wirelessly in order to then change the options and set DHCP?

That should work. FWIW, my flashing method, starting from the stock firmware, was:

    - reset the stock firmware to default
    - do a 30/30/30
    - flash tomato
    - wait 5 minutes
    - do another 30/30/30

This is probably overkill, but it worked.
