LinkSYS HGA7T and HyperWRT 1.4

Before I found out about HyperWRT, I encountered signal strength problems in the basement apartment I am living in. My signal strength is low, good and sometimes very good, but never above this. I tried the WRE54G, but it turns out that it doesn't support WiFi Procted access, so I returned it.

Therefore, I bought the new high gain antennas from LinkSYS HGA7T. After installing them I didn't really notice a difference in signal strength at all.

I have just recently flashed my WRT54G with HyperWRT 1.4 and everything is working fine. Love the new features!!!!!

Couple of questions I need answers too to get max signal strength and throughput using HyperWRT v1.4 with high gain antennas HGA7T:

1- I set my transmission power to 56mW as the max recommended. Is this fine?

2- My antenna settings say TX: Auto and RX: Left. Should I change both to Auto or one set to left and the other right?

3- Will channel 12 & 13 work with all wireless cards, Dell Truemobile 1350 miniPCI?

    Welcome to the forums :)

    1) Should run fine @ 56mW
    2) Both on Auto is the best. Left/Right is only usefull if you want to connect only 1 antenna.
    3) You most likely will have to use the European drivers for your card.

Sorry to interject somewhat. I actually started a topic on channel 14 a while back when I was playing around with the channels, and while I haven't tried all adapters, with the ones I do have, channels 12 & 13 worked fine with US drivers - only channel 14 required me to use the Japanese version driver.

    Thanks I appreciate the input.

I tried using channel 12 & 13, but kept losing my connection. Placed it back on channel 9 and established my connection.

Any issuses with PC ANywhere? I have a port forwarding rule setup to allow PC Anywhere traffic through to a particular host. Doesn't work anymore after flashing.

Disregard PC Anywhere concern. Working again. Don't know what it was, but has been resolved. I just disabled the rule, saved changes. re-enabled it and re-saved. ALL OK.
