Hey everyone this is my first hardware forum glad to be here. So lets get into it hot and heavy shall we? lol. I have internet through a cable company and in the junction box i've installed a cable line running to my garage. From there i have the cable ran to a linksys modem BEFW1154. From there to a linksys wireless router BEFMCU10. My issue is i have wireless signal superb. BUT ( and there's always one of those) when i hard wire any computer into it via ethernet cable (tried more than one cable) The error message appears that im not getting full service via the ether ports. IE. The webpage could not be displayed check the typing so on and so forth. So i've tried tweaking firewalls and everything but for the life of me i cant seem to complete the path from router to computer from computer back to internet. Any suggestions? I've also tried hard resetting both by holding the reset button for 10 seconds but to no avail. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated. Ps sorry if this gets annoyed or blocked or frowned upon just didnt know which section it belonged in.
How would i correct the ips with out being on the web? How can i change the subnet on windows seven abduction windows xp?
On my desktop command prompt config/all reads. Primary dns: mode type hybrid ips routing enabled no wins proxy enabled no Ethernet adapter local area connection: Connection specific: Description. Nvidia force networking controller physical address 00-23-54-95-dc-c2 Dhcp enabled yes auto config enabled. Yes link local ip6v address Fe(bunch of stuff.) Ip4v address 192.168.1.106 (preferred) Sub net mask 255.255.255.0 Default gateway and Dhcp server 192.168.100.1 Dns servers same net bios over tcpip enabled two tunnel adapters lmk if u need more info.
there is your problem; you setup a fix ip address of 192.168.1.106 to your NIC and a gateway not even on the same subnet ( 192.168.100.1) the gateway as to be the address of the router and the NIC address as to be on the same subnet. If your Router as DCHP enable , go in your NIC seting and set the PIv4 to "Optain an IP address automatically" and set also "Optain DNS server address automatically"
it's dyslexia, for your setting, it's all explain here; http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Change-TCP-IP-settings
Followed that link and everything is set to auto obtain. But still no net. Do i need to specify through both Ipv4 and ipv6?
Here's what baffles me. Before i moved i had both my xp laptop and my windows 7 desktop hooked up to a linksys modem router wireless router all in one provided by comcast with absolutely no issues connecting to the net. Why all of the sudden has both windows versions not accepting this router and modem both made by linksys not connecting? I understand the fact that there's two numbers not matching but all this time everything has been set to auto obtain and yet i still have no complete path via Ethernet ports?! Im confused bc if i set it for one ip setting instead of auto obtain then it'll only be set for that one and only setup. Ill try and set those as a set number off of what I've got from ipconfig/all
Also tried clicking install on both protocols but asked for a disc both times. Idk what the big difference between my old setup and my new setup is but it sure is frustrating lol
