Hey guys i have a linksys wireless - B router

    Its

    BEFW11S4 V4

Anyways i had a older router, it wasnt wireless one day, i was resetting the thing and it blew up, the next week i went out and purchased this router, about 1 year ago now, Anyways it seems as if this router disconnects me all the time!.

I get disconnected on a regulare basis, and then all i need to do to get it going again is unplug the power cord from the router and then plug it back in, and then in the matter of say 10 seconds im connected once again.

Now when i get disconnected and say im on my xbox 360, or laptop not in the same room as the router, it takes about 5 mins for the router to figure out whats going on and reconnect me.

Either way its a huge pain in the rear, as like i stated this has been going on for about 1 year now, and its been happening all the time.

Another issue is when the phone rings i get disconnected aswell, i am on dsl, i have called the phone company in to have a look, they looked @ all of my connections and they said it should be fine, they even connected new wafers onto the phone lines, i thought possibly it would fix it, but a day later back to the same getting disconnected all the time.

Anyone know or can think of anything i can try,

I just read on the forum about the firmware upgrades, i just downloaded the latest firmware from linksys to load onto my router, its from 2005, so it isnt all that new but its the latest..

Anyways if anyone knows of anything i can try or what not please let me know.

    Thank you!

When the phone rings does the dsl modem loose connection or just the wireless? And perhaps there is some interference in your home / area now that wasnt present before. The only way to really test that is to take the router somewhere else and try or get another device. The modem issue if it is the modem that keeps disconnecting is only going to be fixed by the phone company.

Wll im lead to believe its more of a router issue then a modem issue, as the second i get disconnected i unplug and then plug back in the router, and i have a connection gaain

Well if you look at the lights on the modem you can tell if the modem looses signal or not. Is it a wireless phone you have, those will cause lots of issues as well. But it may simply be that you router has come to the end of its life. We all hope when we pick up devices they last several years, however for whatever reason, these low cost routers dont last all that long. I have gone through lots myself over the years, and finally got fedup enough that i only by these soho routers to play with. But thats not saying that the router is bad, try different channel, most folks leave the channel on the default (6), change them around maybe even move it within your home, get a longer cable and move it elsewhere.
