Linksys WRT54G problems with NTL

Hello, I was hoping someone might be able to help me with a problem I am having with a new router I have just bought.

Operating System - Windows XP Service Pack 2
    Router - Linksys WRT54G
    PCI Wireless Card – Netgear WG311 802.11g
Network – G (using G instead of B or both)
    Firmware - Latest

I have recently had NTL installed, so I decided to have the broadband 750K connection installed at the same time. This appeared to work totally fine until I bought the Linksys WAP54G, no every time I am sitting there on my PC it keeps dropping the connection for about 5 seconds and in this time it will say “acquiring new IP address†– This is using the wireless function.

When I use the modem through the USB connection the connection does not drop. Does anyone know why my connection keeps dropping? I have WPA enabled and I don’t believe I can use a static IP address when connected to NTL (although I doubt that will help away). I am at the point of sending back the Linksys router, but to be honest I don’t want do this because I know people have got this working fine before, so it must be a user problem (me!) - :D.

    Do you have any ideas?
