    Hello,

I am trying to find an optimal configuration within the limitations I have because my set-up has a bottleneck so I appreciate any help you can offer.

Currently I have downstairs a Motorola SB6180 cable modem with Cox Ultimate Internet connected to the WAN port of the WRT54GS running Tomato. Router is set as gateway. 2 PCs are connected to this router via Lan. It's private IP is 192.168.1.1. I have it in DMZ mode with DMZ on 192.168.1.253. Wireless is disabled.

Cat 5e runs upstairs from the third LAN of the WRT54GS to the WAN of an Asus WL-520G. The Asus router is running its native Asus firmware and configured as a gateway with a static WAN IP of 192.168.1.253 and its private IP is set to 192.168.0.1. Connected to the Asus via its Lan ports are 2 additional PC's, a ROKU and a printer through its USB port. An additional PC + 2 laptops and our phones, tablets, etc connect wireless to the Asus.

Cable modem cannot be relocated. I must have all PC's upstairs and down online and I must be able to keep Asus upstairs as it is needed as a print server.

My internet down on any computer maxes at about 27 Mbps and 22 Mbps up. When connected directly to the Surfboard, I can get about 98 Mbps down. I've checked disabling everything and connecting only one computer to either router connected to the motorola and the speed always drops by 75% or more.

    Any ideas? Many thanks.

    Todd
