Just wondering if anyone with this particular router is able to get any of the TomatoUSB K26 releases running stable? I've tried tomato-K26-1.28.7820MIPSR1, as well as the K26 MIPSR1 build 54 from tomatousb.org and for the most part they run fine until I try to saturate my full bandwidth of 20Mb/s. Downloading fonts from google.com fails, as well as speedtest.net. They go about 10 seconds in and then the router resets itself. Going to plain old Tomato 1.28 and Tomato-1.28.7619- ND -Toastman-K24 MIPSR1 the router runs fine even after bandwidth saturation. I've tested the above mentioned K26 builds on two Linksys WRT54GS routers, one v1.1 and the other is a v2. Both exhibit the same resets, so I was wondering if anyone else saw this or am I missing something?

Thanks for the post as I am experiencing the same thing with the same router. I really like the ability to rename the QOS names. I am not super clear what all the differences between stock tomato and Toastman's are. I really like the Tomato firmware and wish just the QOS names part was added and ran on the older WRT54G. The bandwidth limiter is nice but not a requirement. The WRT54GS is a good piece of hardware and would be complemented nicely with a stable release of Toastman's build.

    Thanks.

Have you tried running without QOS turned on? It seems to me the router stays up a but longer without QOS enabled.

    I just installed

Tomato Firmware v1.28.7616 -Toastman ND VPN

which is the older 2.4 kernel and it is running stable, at least for my purposes. Hopefully this will install on an older WRT54G 4MB Flash.

Do post your result's here - there's still a bunch of those oldies out there but today's developement seems to be focused on new, more powerful routers...

They forgot all about our oldies :)

I'm looking for a stable updated firmware for my WRT54G V2

    I am now running "tomato-ND-1.28.7621.2-Toastman-ND-VPN.trx"

    http://www.4shared.com/dir/v1BuINP3/Toastman_Builds.html#dir=94759182

on a WRT54G v4 4/16 router and is appears to be very stable. I have several downloads taking place simultaneously and the web admin interface continues to be responsive and complete even having multiple tabs monitoring bandwidth, QOS graphs, and device list. It is really nice having the ability to change the QOS names as needed, but Toastman's defaults are the perfect jumping off point, just a couple tweaks specific to the network it is serving.

I am now going to attempt to flash a WRT54G V2 with the same code listed above. The above firmware is based on the 2.4 kernel rather than the newer 2.6. I can't tell you what the differences are but I am more than happy with this build and it's performance.

I will post my results with the WRT54G V2 shortly.

The WRT54G v.2 also works just as well as the v.4. I am downloading several files, watching video and composing this message all over wifi without hiccup. It it obviously clear Linksys crippled these boxes with their software.

I upgraded from Tomato 1816 to Toast's 7621.2 without a hitch. Once completed, I immediately navigated to Admin -> configuration and restored to default config and erased NVRAM. Super stable.

Hope this helps. If anything happens negatively, I will report back.

Try Tomato RAF 1.28.9006 ... bandwidth is same as kernel 2.4 with the advantages of kernel 2.6
