I have been sent a copy of a beta firmware for the WRV54G by one of our users that I would like to make available to everyone.

Keep in mind this is a BETA copy and neither we nor Linksys make any claims to its production quality and you use this at your own risk... That said

    Come and get it -

Does it fix problems for you? let us know!

Thanks for the post of the new firmware. I loaded it without any apparent ill effects. I cannot determine what changes were made, however, WDS support does not appear to have been one of the fixes.

I have yet to try VPN with it - I'll let you know.

    Bugs, bugs bugs.

All of the 2.3x series of firmware, including this beta, cause my WRV54G to reboot every few minutes when I approach line or WiFi saturation.

I can reproduce this by sending large files via WiFi from my 802.11g Laptop. Usually within 20 seconds of transfers at high speed and close range I get a yellow light and reboot.

The beta does this as well.

I went back to 2.21 (though I believe that 2.25.x works just fine as well...) and the problem(s) disappeared TOTALLY.

IMHO there remain serious problems in the 2.3x firmware series.

After several infuriating month with Linksys tech support that got me nowhere, the 2.37.7 beta worked like a charm. QuickVPN worked on the first try! Thanks!!!!

    Working nice so far

It was kinda buggy at first, then I reset the router an re-entered information.

So far I like what I see. Things that I have noticed so far:
Added remote management custom port (add your own ports instead of using defaults, I was cursing when I first saw this cause my ISP block both ports given).

Noticed that when you change the local IP it automatically redirects you to the new IP instead of you having to punch it in. Nice

    SO far so good.

    Found a few problems:

    1) Remote Management doesnt work. Tried it on three different locations that I have clients at and none of them work.

    2) MAJOR drop in bandwidth. I personally drop from 1.5mps to 200-300Kbs

The bandwidth issue doesnt take effect until you do a hard reset on the router (like they tel y ou to do during a firmware updrade).

I hope these bugs are worked out in the next release.

Fixed the bandwidth issue. I set the MTU to manual and set it to 1500.
