Logging to hard drive, Fedora-18 Linux

I am using Tomato Firmware v1.28.1816 In a Linksys WRT54G/GS/GL. The o/s is Fedora-18 64bit. I have been trying for sometime to save the log information to a file external to the router, this computer and/or another NFS server which would be ideal since it runs continuously. I normally shut this computer down at night and I am interested in viewing usage during those hours. Actually between 00:00 and 05:00 local EST time is of interest right now.

The internal logs it produces are good but have limited capacity and usually start later than 00:00, this morning around 02:30 and I lose much of the info I'm interested in.

One thing that is confusing is that when I set the UNC in CIFS Client the slashes tend to be changed from / to \ as for Windows, this is a Linux computer. I get "Error mounting CIFS #1. Still trying..."

I've gone through the set up process, trying everything I can think of and can't get any data to appear in /var/log/tomatolog which I created. Is there a cookbook/tutorial somewhere that will help me get this working or is it a feature that doesn't work?

Other than this problem I am quite satisfied with Tomato.
