Lot's of DHCP chatter from Win 7 laptop

    Hi,

Every few minutes, I see DHCPINFORM and DHCPACK records in my Tomato logs from the two Win 7 laptops on my network. Other computers, Linux and iOS systems, talk to the Tomato dhcp server on a much more reasonable basis.

Can anyone tell me what to Google for so as to minimize the amount of pollution in my log files?

    Thanks,
    Ron

    --quiet-dhcp, --quiet-dhcp6, --quiet-ra
Suppress logging of the routine operation of these protocols. Errors and problems will still be logged. --quiet-dhcp and quiet-dhcp6 are over-ridden by --log-dhcp.

The dhcp-option 252 does seem to silence win7 clients, not just mask the messages, it gives a null entry for

I suspect router adblocking/dns poisoning/ firewall policy encourages the messages, the windows client knows internet comms are interrupted and tries to get proxy configuration. I have also found a Wii console also very chatty using dhcp, possibly using dhcp messages to 'ping' the router?

Add this, it worked for me:

    dhcp-option=252,"\n"
