Major issues with V24 RC6 and even RC5 on WRT150N

Well, since I'm a spendaholic, I saw a good deal on a WRT150N in the shops and got one.

Since it's compatible with DD-WRT I didn't even think twice. However, upon getting home, I did the whole mini then generic flash and the WRT150N is now running the std version.

The problem is that it is very very flaky.

I lose PPPOE connections almost every hour, and it fails to re-connect again. WI-FI is also extremely flaky. It disconnects regularly too.

I was scouring the DD-WRT forums and found out that RC5 may be more stable. But it doesn't seem that way for me. It also is probably as "unstable" as RC6.

Any tips on how to get this thing stable?

    Anyone using a WRT150N?

    Please let me know.

Try the Pre-RC7 builds located in the Downloads section fallowed by others, eko, Brainslayer - RC7 9414 is the most current build to this posting.

They upload a new one on a 3-7 day period.

Would like to add I am using that build and my WRT350N, and is working like a champ with PPPoE.

    Thanks for the heads up.

i tried the newer builds and it seems much better than the RC6 ones.

However, I think I am having problems with wireless.

If I stream video on my laptop, then the wireless goes from 54 all the way to 1 mbps and then the video stops playing.

The only way to recover is to restart VLC.

But then it happens again (over a period of 2-3 minutes).

Do you think WMM may have a role to play?

Try to use Windows Media player. I don't know, try going in to the advanced Wireless settings and see if there is anything you can do in there. Or you can try to force it to use a certain speed. I really cant help you with the wireless issues, mainly because the only wireless things i have in my house is 2 Wiis and 1 laptop (all 3 are G Devices and not N)

If you want a little faster support form people that are a lot more knowledgeable than my self go to DD-WRT's fourms.

The problem does not lie with VLC. I am almost sure it's got something to do with WMM.

I will disable it and let you know how it goes.

Its not wmm. I had the exact same issue. It's your router trying to be a friendly "neighbor" and automatically drops the speed cause of another wireless N router in the same main or sideband channel. Give this a try first and change the channel to something else that isn't as noisy. Unfortunetly, my neighbors are clueless as to how to setup wireless N properly.

Thanks for the tip. I'll check and see if changing channels helps or not.
