make router act as AP

Discussion in 'Networking Issues' started by linksysrouterx2, Jun 10, 2008.

  1. I am looking for a way to set up 2 routers to hookup to 1 internet connection, the second one to act as an AP. I have 2 linksys routers. One is a WRT-54GS and the other one is a WRT54G3G-ST. I flashed the firmware on the GS using www.dd-wrt.com and now have more capabilities for the router including WDS. I dont care which router is where, i just want to be able to transmit wirelessly. I dont understand how to make the setup work, and i dont know if its possible, but I want to hook my XBOX360 up to it, using the RJ-45 port on the GS. I am working on taking screen shots of all the screens on both routers, and also drawing a layout, using pictures, of what I want the setup to look like. Can any one help?

Layout of what I want/got done is at http://www.purplishpurple.com/router/layout.JPG

I found my resolution at http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Wireless_Bridge

I am leaving this post up for anyone that searches the forums for a simular situation.

Lots of posts on this topic. Search this site for "Wireless Client Bridge" (or just "Client Bridge" as called in the latest dd-wrt), and for WET (Wireless EThernet [bridge]).

    BTW, these two phrases
has nothing to do with each other.
