I have a problem with my router. It is a WRT54G v1.2.1 . I was trying to update the firmware, and it didn't accept the file, which I downloaded from the linksys site. After that I switched off the modem and turned it on again the next day. All the ports & internet (12 lights all togehter) start to blink, and I can't get on the network... I am not sure if it has anything to with trying to update the firmware or its something else. Please help me out. Thanks in advance.

have you tried hard resetting the router?

I tried to hold the reset button for 30 seconds, which I remembered reading on one of the threads as one of the reset procedure.

Even holding on to the reset button for 30 seconds, it didn't seem to have worked. The blinking lights go off, but the power and dmz led stay on, and the computer still says "cable wire unplugged"

But I am not sure if it was the hard reset at all. If someone can tell me how to do a hard-reset. I don't have the manual on my hand, I have to dig up my attic to find it.

I have the same problem, mine is a WRT54G version 3, I tried upgrading to v4 and everything was fine showing me that the upgrade was done correctly. I turned off the router, and wait for 30 seconds, then I turned on and the power led it has been blinking nonstop, I cant get the setup page using, dmz led is going on and off, I dont receive any responds from the router, I tried upgrading again and the blinking led still there, router dosen't work.

I tried ressetting, still blinking led and router dosen't work.

    ¿Any ideas?

Well so far I haven't gotten any solution. And I got another problem on my hand. I am visiting asia, and at the time I was trying to update the firmware. I forgot about the voltage difference. Here is 220V then in USA 110V. The thing is; it still works if I plug it back into 220V outlet. But if I plug it into the 110V thru the converter, it would start blinking and wouldn't let me log into The only thing is I don't want to blow the adapter, until I know what I am doing. The adapter gets really really hot, the max I have left it alone was half hour, and nothing happened except it being very hot. I want it to work atleast until I return to US.

so cna you ping the router at all?

a blinking power light usually indicate a corrupted firmware and you will not be able to ping the router since you will not receive a dhcp IP..to resolve the problem with ethernet cable unplugged, force the card speed to 10mbps full duplex then set a static IP of, try to ping the router.

if you get replies, see if you could access the setup page then reflash the firmware, if not, do the upgrade using tftp. hope this helps.
