Maybe Simple Connection Question

  1. Hi,

I have a WRT54G, but I'm not currently not using it as a router becuase it limits searches on mp3 sites and such - I just have a USB connection from a cable modem. However, I recently aquired an Omnifi digital music player so that I could send mp3 and streaming audio from my computer to my home stereo wireless. Therefore, I want my linksys to send the files from my computer wireless, but I don't want or need the internet connection to go through the router. I thought I had the connection right by connecting my computer's ethernet to one of the 4 ports on the linksys, but as soon as I do my internet shuts down becuase it thinks the internet is now coming through the ethernet instead of the USB. Any help?

    This should help.

If you shut off the firewall in the wrt54g then you will have no problem hooking the internet through your router, to gain connectivity to your omnifi.
