I get strange messages in the router log since I started using VOIP ATA (Sipura 3000). The message text is below:

    <4> kernel: ip_nat_mangle_udp_packet: undersized packet
    <4> kernel: ip_nat_mangle_udp_packet: undersized packet
<4> kernel: NET: 1 messages suppressed.

Firmware is DD-WRT v.22r2 running on WRT54G v.2.0. The VOIP provider is FreeWorldDialup. I know that Sipura refreshes a connection (registration) to VOIP provider every 30 seconds but the messages are logged every few seconds.

    Any ideas what they mean?

    Thanks.

I've got the same message using a Linksys PAP2-NA using dd-wrt v22-r2, it happens every few seconds.

I googled for the string to know what it means, but I didn't understand anything, nor if I can change anything in the PAP2 to avoid these messages.

There is a some bug in ip_nat_mangle_udp_packet module. The good news is that it does not affect VOIP service, except messages in the log.

There was a posting indicating type of IP packets creating this message/error but I doubt anyone had a chance to fix it. Hopefully it would be fixed in v.23 .

I also noticed that UDP traffic (SIP and RTP) from my Sipura ATA is not logged by the router. It sees only HTTP/HTTPS traffic which is configuration/provisioning from VOIP provider.
