hey everyone! if you have a laptop and you want to upgrade you minPCI 802.11b card to a miniPCI G speedbooster card then heres a solution. personally i didn't want a pcmcia card or a usb attachment cause its too bulky. so here is what i discovered thanks to some info on this site. if you have a wrt54g VERSION 1 router there happens to be a WM54G miniPCI card installed inside it and all you have to do is take it out. there is a guide showing this as a sticky in this forum. i installed this in my toshiba laptop and replaced an atheros 5001x 802.11b miniPCI card and installed the WMP54GS (speed booster version) drivers. tada! YES! the card works, turn afterburner on and then you have a speedboster miniPCI card in your laptop! obviously the wrt54g that i took appart no longer works as wireless hub/ (does work as a 4 port hub with WAN port if you'd like) so i went out and bought a wrt54gs router and now i'm enjoying speedbooster speeds! so for any of you out there that need an upgrade to your lap top wireless i hpoe you can take advantage of this!! NOTE: i've discovered that a lot of belkin routers have a miniPCI broadcom 802.11g card in them. check out http://wireless.gumph.org/content/4/4/011-wag54g-insides.html if anyone cares to try then let everyone know what happens! since speedbooster is a broadcom technology i'm sure that the broadcom minipci should work with the speedbooster router. good luck!
