Monitor your WRT54G with GKrellM, Anyone Interseted?

    Hi all,

Just wanted to know if anybody has used this system monitor. I use it on my laptop running Ubuntu 10.04 and it's pretty cool. Surfing the net I found a thread on using gkrellm to monitor the WRT54G and would like to set it up.

I haven't asked the author of the blog Chris here yet, but I wanted to know if anybody was interested in getting this running on Tomato on this forum since there are lots of smart guys and gals here. I am running Tomato SpeedMod 1.28 by Rodney Chua (Thanks Rodney!).

So, if anyone is interested in using this cool monitor, pitch in and post some innovative howto about it. All I succeded in doing was downloading the file to my machine, then using scp to get it to the router. At that point I knew I was in over my head.

As for the set up, he was using OpenWRT so it will be different on Tomato. For one thing, mv gkrellmd /usr/bin, doesn't work because /usr/bin is read only. I don't want to muck up the filesystem or security on Tomato so I didn't change permissions on that dir.

Also, the author said to add a line to /etc/inittab to reduce cpu drag. This file is not in Tomato so this step will need to be implemented another way.

Okay. Hope some of you are interested. Once again, the link to the post I found is

    Have fun!

    Cheers,
    brook
